My dad passed down his passion for cars, motorcycles, and boats to me from the time I could walk. He taught me how to take care of them, wrench on them, and keep them running like new. Growing up in the ’80s and ’90s, I devoured every issue of Car and Driver, Road & Track, and Petersen’s Off-Road. I read anything and everything I could get my hands on—if it had wheels and an engine, I wanted to know about it.
When my mom wrecked our ’83 Cutlass—the one we had bought from my grandmother and the one I was supposed to inherit when I turned 16—my dad sent me car shopping with her. I came back excited about a 1990 Geo Storm, thinking I’d found the car. My dad took one look and said, “I’ll take it from here.”
That weekend, we drove past an Enterprise car lot and spotted a 1991 Camaro RS. It had a V8, a manual transmission, and the kind of attitude you could feel from the sidewalk. The moment I saw it, I was hooked. That Camaro became my first car—and my first true love.
I learned to drive in that car, and I pushed it to its limits every chance I got. My friends and I would cruise the local strip on weekends, talking cars, setting up backroad drag races, and living for every roar of the engine and screech of tires. The Camaro wasn’t the fastest in a straight line, but I lived for the twisty backroads. That’s where I really learned car control—how to dance on the edge of grip and, occasionally, how to recover when I stepped over the line.
Now that I’m older, I take cars to the track to truly unlock their potential—and I share that same love of driving with my sons. I opened my dealership to connect with other enthusiasts who feel the same way I do: that cars aren’t just transportation—they’re emotion, adrenaline, and stories waiting to be told.
